What is the difference in the following ammo?
Remington umc 7.62x39
MC = Metal Case PMC FMJ = Full Metal Jacket and what is the difference in the purpose of each of them. Looking at 7.62x39 I find several boxes of each at 20 for 7.99 fmj PMC 20 for 15.99 mc Rem. and is the price difference more than just because of the name? Thanks |
Re: What is the difference in the following ammo?
Just a quick guess, but perhaps the PMC is made in a friendly, neighborhood, former Soviet Block country by desperate, starving workers and the Reminington in the good ol' USA by OVERPAID Union workers?

Re: What is the difference in the following ammo?
OK, a quick check reveals sorta accuracy...PMC is a Korean company.
I'd buy the cheaper stuff...assuming the bullet weight is the same, then they're both the same thing. Even if there is a very slight bullet weight difference, they are both FMJ, ball ammo, so again I'd go with the cheaper stuff. Be sure to test fire some of it! |

Sometimes in Pistol you also run into TMJ....Total Metal Jacket - thus the base of the bullet is fully covered - no exposed lead base. |

Anyhow, you could buy the PMC for target practice and save the Remington for TSHTF scenario. |
Re: What is the difference in the following ammo?
I used to shoot PMC at the range I went to. I didnt think it was too bad at all. Better than the Magtech crapola they sell now.
